The Thoughts In My Brain

Hey everyone!

So how's life so far? School going well? That is if you're even in school.....

Recently I have come to really notice how hard it can be trying to juggle everything around and fit all my activities and to-dos into my daily routine and schedule.

Like this blog for instance. I feel like I haven't been updating as usual as I could be and it's not because I don't want to update or post new blog posts. It's just been really busy with school lately and I can't seem to catch a break until the weekend rolls around. And I know that, that's okay but I don't want to feel like I'm abandoning my blog just because I have so much work. Since starting I haven't ever felt that way and I just wanted to let everyone who is out there and who reads my blogs know that. And I hate making excuses or even when I feel like I make excuses. Sometimes I wonder how I am the queen of procrastination.....

So I wanted to just talk, or more like write down some of my thoughts and then have you read them in this blog post. A kinda like what's going on in my brain kinda thing.

First of all I would like to have a talk about my YouTube channel. Well last Saturday I decided I wanted to start making videos on Saturdays and now Wednesdays. The sole purpose for this idea was so I could try to reach out to more people about certain issues. Things like eating disorders, depression, family knots and ties, the future. All those kind of things. I also feel like it would be a good way to connect with the people I get who take the chance of watching my videos on a more personal level. Thank you to those of you who do by the way.
You see, I started a channel on YouTube which could be my space. My space to upload whatever the heck kinda videos I wanted to. However I also created this channel with the sole intention that it wouldn't only be focused on my life but on other peoples as well. Yours, to be more specific. I don't know exactly how I would go about doing this but I am currently on the road of figuring it all out.
Because yes the likelihood of it is that none of you may ever cross my path or meet me during either or our lifetimes.

And yes I know how weird that sounds coming from a complete stranger.....

But it's true. And also a topic for another time.... and why the internet is so incredible.

Getting back on topic....

I also wanted to say that I understand that my videos aren't great. The editing needs a bit of work and I could increase the content by I don't know.... A LOT. And this is mainly down to the fact that I am still learning. I defiantly hope to be 100% better in the future than I am now. So if you're willing to stick with me on this journey of mine that go right ahead. And if not then that's alright as well. :)

Secondly, I don't have any set dates or days that I will be posting blog posts. If you happen to follow my blog then you should know that my blog posts will be more like surprise blog posts that happen randomly and at any time. I hate having a schedule for things like these, and that includes my videos, because I feel like it takes away from the whole point of video blogging slightly. If you have something to share then you should be able to share it whenever you want. I unfortunately do not have that luxury. :(

And thirdly, Thank you to everyone who takes the time to watch my videos, even if you don't subscribe, and to everyone who reads my blog. You are all amazing. :)

Also here's a picture that I took the other day.....

(Mainly posting it so that my banner uptop doesn't look empty! No I don't feel guilty... at least not that much. And it's a nice picture, don't you think?)

Hope to write to you again soon!

Aimee. :)

Hey Everyone!

Hello again!

Yes it's definitely been a while since I last posted a blog post on here and that's because that since school started I've just been so busy. Fortunately however I have made a scheduled so that I will have time for more blog posts, my YouTube videos, and all my important school and homework. Yay!

Thank you to everyone that's stuck around patiently waiting for the next post (this one!). I am truly grateful. :)

So whats been gong on?

Well I went to my second cousins wedding which was beautiful. I had so much fun dancing the night away and eating lot's of delicious food. I can't wait until I can have a wedding that was a lovely as that one. First I need to find someone though.....

SO here are a few pictures from the wedding....

(The theme was airplane because the groom likes flying and aircraft.)

Also i'm now a Senior in High School! Which is awesome because it's my last year of school and a bit nerve wracking because I have to decide what I want to do after school... which school I want to go to, what I want to do as a job, where to live, ect....
So that's defiantly a big one.

I've also got back into the rhythm of making YouTube videos.

Check out my newest one!....

There will be a new up tomorrow so keep an eye out for that!
As well as the new videos I created a side channel, Extra Aimee, where I will post my vlogs and mini videos of events that happen in my life. I am excited to be starting up with my videos again as I love creating content and I find that when I'm older and looking back on myself as I am now will be quite entertaining or embarrassing. Either one!

Those are just a few things as to what's been going on so far. I am happy to finally be back and to be posting regularly.

Hope to see you all again soon!

Aimee. :)

I'm Back!

Hey guys!

It's definitely been a while, hasn't it? I've finally arrived in London after a three day trip down here so I've gotten to see my cousins, aunt, and uncle. I'm staying with them then after the wedding for my second cousin I'll be going back to the U.S.

And right after I get back I will be starting school again. This year will be my senior year and I'm really excited to be doing my final year. BUT... I'm not so excited about going back to school. I have mostly mixed feelings about it...

Anyway I have a couple of weeks of my summer left so I don't have to worry about that just yet.

The trip down to London was pretty smooth. I took a few naps in the car and stayed in two different Holiday Inns. Both were nice but the second one that I stayed in was defiantly my favorite.
It had a Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream vending machine in the lobby and they didn't charge for the Wi-Fi there like the first Holiday Inn did. I also think that the food in the second hotel was better. Overall though I do believe that my trip was pretty good.

Then when I had arrived in London I was greeted by my cousin Jack. It was nice to see him again.
So while I've been in London I've done some shopping, visited the parks, and played my fair share of video games with the cousins. I've defiantly had fun so far.

I also got to go and meet my mother and sister at the airport earlier this week. It's nice to see them again too. I really have missed those guys.

That's just a little bit of what I have been up to recently. I plan to keep the posts coming this week and then continue after that as well. It's good getting into the rhythm of posting again.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Last Day At The Stables

Hello there!

So yesterday was my last day of helping out at the stables. So now there will no longer be any more horse posts. Thank goodness.

I meant to write this post yesterday but because I'm a lazy old mushroom (don't ask) I didn't. So apologies for that.

I seem to be apologizing a lot recently.....hmmmm

So tomorrow I'm heading down South to London! Except I won't be in London tomorrow. Oh no. Instead I'll be lying in a hotel room wondering about life and the meaning of it all.

Okay. That was a bit random.....

But seriously... I will be in London in I think two days? I'll get to see my cousins and my uncle and my aunt. Oh and also my sister and my mum will hopefully be joining all of us in London as well, as they are coming over to spend the next few weeks here in the UK. That is providing they don't get swept up by giant floods or anything....

So yeah. That's my life so far. Waiting to go places and for people to arrive. Fun. Fun. Fun.

I also wanted to mention that because I'm going to be staying in places that only let you have a hour of free Wi-Fi per stay that I most likely won't be writing any recent posts for the next few days.

Sorry about that.

Gah. I did it again. UGHHHH.

I can't help it OK? It's what I do.

Sooooo yeah. I think I'm going to go now before this post gets any weirder. Mostly likely my sleep deprivation is starting to kick in and at the moment I feel like a really loose canon ready to explode.

Hope you guys are all swell!

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Deans Shortbread Factory

Well hello there!

So I didn't post a blog post for yesterday (sorry!) and I almost forgot to post one for today. Fortunately a light bulb went off in my head that reminded me to do so before shutting down the computer.

Today I went out with both of my grandparents and their friend to celebrate their friends birthday. We went to the Deans Shortbread Factory and I had a salad that looked like this.....

It. Was. Delicious.

After lunch we all came back home and I did some studying and a bit of surfing on the internet.

Also yesterday I made a YouTube video. And not just any YouTube video, my first YouTube video...

Please have a watch and give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed it. Also subscribe to my channel to be notified of all the future videos that I plan to do. :)

I believe that that's all for today. Apologies that it was so short. I promise to make it up to you very soon.

Until next time everyone,

Aimee. :)

Hello everyone! Long time no post.

Well the last few days have been pretty busy, as I have been busy doing some serious (not really) training for the Gymkhana that took place today at the stables that I been volunteering at.

And for those you who don't know what a Gymkhana is, it's an equestrian event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for the riders on horses. I had three things to do today and they were a handy pony course, jumping, and a dressage test. I also did a group test and my group and I won by two seconds!

I also had to do some braiding on the horse I was riding. I really wish I had taken a picture of it because I thought it was pretty good. Kinda sad I didn't. Oh well.

So the past few days I had been preparing for that... Oh and sadly I believe that Monday will be my last day helping at the stables. I will be going down South for the remainder of my time here. That means that I will have to pack on Tuesday as I will be leaving on Wednesday. It also means that after Monday there will be no more posts about horses. So my blog won't look like it's dedicated to everything horse.

However I am looking forward to going down south. I get to see some more of my family after all. I can't wait to see everyone.

Another thing I will be doing tomorrow.... I will be making an introductory video for my YouTube channel Aimee's Corner. I have always thought that starting a YouTube channel would be a fun hobby and what better time than tomorrow?
Also some of you may have noticed that on my first blog post that I had said that I had made a 25 Facts About Me video. I did make one but unfortunately when certain family members of mine watched it they had said that I had given a bit too much information about me away, so I have deleted it and instead I  have decided to start a fresh, and start my YouTube channel off with an Introductory video then make another 25 Facts About Me video.

So keep an eye out for my Introductory video tomorrow. And if you are interested then why not subscribe to my channel to be notified about when it's out? I promise it would be worth your time.

I'm hoping you are feeling a bit more caught up to date with what I have been doing recently. I know I feel like I am back on track.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Cantering And Playing Horse Games

Hello everyone!

So I didn't do a blog post for yesterday because basically I didn't do much so there was nothing really to write about. It seems like all my weekends are starting to turn out like that.... Hmmmm.

Anyway today I went back to the stables to help out with a summer camp that is going to be running all of this week but it turned out that really instead of helping with anything I ended up actually being a part of the camp. It was like I had signed up for it. And that was kinda cool. It meant that I had gotten to ride the horses. I love riding horses. I got to canter today and it was good getting to be able to get back into the rhythm of doing it.

The camp itself was very fun as well. I got to do some relay races with the horses and I got some lessons as well which helped with reminding me what I needed to do. I found it to be quite helpful.

Unfortunately today was so HOT. I feel like the heat wave is trying to make a comeback and I can't allow it. The weather here in Scotland is so bipolar and it's not helpful at all to those who spend most of their days outside. Which I don't usually do..... but still.

I realize that this post isn't that long and I'm not really sure whether or not short or long posts are preferred. Throughout this week though I will most likely be posting posts that are going to be around this long. Hopefully they will start to get bigger again next week.

So I hope you enjoyed todays post!

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

July Favourites

So here it is! My July favourites post. Full of the goodies and things I have loved to use and still am using now in August. I have decided to put theses items into different groups/categories so that it would make it a bit easier to go through these items.

 Let's get started!

Beauty and cosmetics

The first favourite of mine would have to be something that I have recently discovered here in the UK....

This product is amazing. I have only tried two colours so far, Blueberry and Sugar Apple, but I have loved them both so much. The Gelly Nail Polish gives your nails a nice shine without having to apply a topcoat, however I apply one anyway to keep the nail polish from chipping and to make it last longer. I have loved using these and I hope to continue using them in the future.

This is a sample of what the colour blueberry looks like on. I love it so much!
If you are interested in trying some out yourself then you can click HERE

The next product I have enjoyed using has been.....

Chubby Chap is basically an oversized chap stick. However it has lasted me through the whole of July for those dry lips moments and has still a lot of chap stick left for me to use. The only flavour I have tried so far has been Oatmeal Cookie. And I just have to say that it's actually quite a pleasant taste. It also does work well on dry lips. I'd definitely continue using this.

My next product is something I brought over from the US (along with my chubby chap) and I may have forgotten to mention that if you are living in the UK or anywhere other than the US you may or may not be able to obtain some of the things I have listed in my favourites if you are interested in doing so. This also goes for some of the items that I have bought from the UK, so a visa versa kinda thing. I apologize for any inconvenience.

One of my favourite shops in the US is called Bath and Body Works. And that is where I found the next product that I adore....
Japanese Cherry Blossom Perfume

When I first went to have a look around in Bath and Bodyworks I had found a small selection of perfumes that I really liked. However, the scent Japanese Cherry Blossom stood out to me as the most lovely. The smell it provides isn't too overpowering nor is it too weak. It's a sweet and somewhat tangy ( I don't know it that's exactly the right word) scent. I have gotten many compliments on the scent. In fact I have about three of the small bottles and one of the large because I love the smell of it so much.

When I made this list I knew for a fact that it had to include some of the things I had found delicious for over the month of July.

My first yummy food is.....

This really shouldn't be here on this list because these are something that I have been enjoying since I knew they existed. I put them on this list anyway because I really do enjoy eating these as an snack. I like to freeze them and them have a few in a little jar or bowl. Yummy.

When I had come here this year I discovered yet another favourite of mine....

This has to be one of my favourite drinks to have on a hot day. Since there was a heat wave in Scotland for about two weeks I was really enjoying having one of these in the afternoons. I would have to say that these really did the job for cooling me down. Plus they taste amazing! I definitely would recommend these.
My last foodie item would be something that I picked up the other day...

I haven't had these since I was younger so when I had the chance to get some more I lept at it. These make for a nice treat during the day. They are small and pretty satisfying. I love Kinder chocolate.
So when I went to the Yorkshire show I picked up this lovely purse. The only thing is I can't seem to remember which shop/stall I had bought it from. So I do feel quite bad about not being able to post a link as to where I got it. Sorry guys. If any of you do know the shop that happens to sell this type of purse

However I love it because of the amount of room and slots that are provided. There is even enough room in there for my IPhone.

And last but not least....

I just had to add this one. I loveeeee Sherlock so much and I've gotten to watch a lot over the Summer. I mean who doesn't like Benedict Cumberbatch as a detective? He's just so gorgeous.

So those were my July favourites. I'd love to hear what you think. Also what have some of your favourites been this summer? Leave a comment down below! :)

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Fish And Chips Day

What a rainy day it was today. It was much needed though and I am thankful for it.

So no horse volunteering for me today. Which also means no horse pictures and I have to say thank goodness for that. I was starting to feel like I was posting too many anyway. Although there are more to come if you do like and miss them.
Instead I spent the day relaxing and doing a bit of my AP work. As well as watching some TV and taking a few dances recesses, that were much needed.
This morning though I did go out food shopping with both of my grandparents and that was fun. Mainly because I got to push my granddad around in a wheelchair, which was pretty entertaining. I did get the feeling though that he was a bit scared of me doing it. I couldn't tell why though....

While we were out I found this....

I haven't seen or had these in years! I knew I had to buy a small box. The chocolate is delicious and the little plastic toy inside of the chocolate egg is a nice little bonus. I am very happy I found these though, they aren't in the US I don't think so it was defiantly a nice treat.

Then when we came home we had soup and some French bread for lunch and that was nice. I then went back to my computer and finished my other post for yesterday.

And a few hours later my grandma, granddad, and I were off to the train station to have fish and chips and meet my grandmas friend from there. We stopped at somewhere called The Bay and got some yummy fish and chips.

After I had polished most of it off (I had to feed the rest of my chips to the seagulls because I couldn't finish all of them) my grandma went to the ice cream shop, which was right next to the fish and chip shop, and bought each of us an ice cream.

I had a salted caramel with two flakes. AND IT WAS GOOOOOD. I love mainly anything involving caramel. Chocolate, lattes, caramel corn, ect...

We then preceded to the train station to wait for about twenty minutes then we picked up my grandmas friend and came home.

I have to say, today was pretty awesome. I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for me!

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

First Post Of August

Hello! So this post was supposed to be written and then published yesterday but I ended up getting distracted by the new TV show "The Singer Takes it All", which some of you may have heard about recently. So I watched and voted for some of the singer who sung yesterday for that Then after I did all that I was suddenly hit with a feeling of complete tiredness and all I really wanted to do was lay down on my comfy warm bed, crawl into the fetus position and sleep. So basically the point that I am trying to get across to you is that I feel like a pretty unorganized human being right now. I need to work on that I think.
So to make yesterdays post up I have decided to post and write what happened yesterday today and that's as well as posting and writing todays post as well. I feel a bit more productive doing that rather than just skipping yesterday altogether. So on with the post!

*Flashback to yesterday*

I'm starting feel like with all these posts about horses and going to the stables that this blog is going to look like I completely love horses... which I guess is fine as long as it doesn't go as go into the regions of me being in love with horses, if you know what I mean....

Also happy first of  August everyone! I can't believe it's actually August already. Where did all that time go? Just yesterday felt like the 1st of January... weird. It's even more weird to think that I will be going back to High School next month to finish my last school year there. Wow has time just flown by.
Speaking of which I will get to be seeing my mum and my sister again soon can't wait for that! And another amazing happening is that the heat wave in Britain, I'm feeling safe to say is all gone! There was a bucket full of rain poring down yesterday....

However it's nice not having to deal with the heat when your working outside. I don't have to come home smelling like sweaty feet. Yesssss.

So I got to do some riding today along with getting to lead some horses around for a walk while some people rode them. Nice chance to get to walk around and stretch my legs a bit.

This is Twiggy, she is the horse I rode yesterday. I love to ride her because she is smooth and very comfortable to ride. She is also the horse pictured above as well.

I really need to get some more photos of things other than horses.

So that was my day. It was a lot more tiring than I made it sound. Honest.

Oh and I forgot to mention look out for my July favourites post. I think I will start doing a few then maybe I'll mix it up by also making a few videos of some. We'll just have to see.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Riding Through The Forest

Today was the day that I finally went back to the stables and returned to my longer volunteering hours. And I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I always start with feeding the horses which is quite easy to do. It basically consists of mixing the feed and grabbing a haystack or two then going out to give the horses their food. After I do that I usually go and collect some horses then bring them back into the stable area to give them a clean and brush down.
I did something different after I helped clean some of the horses today, I cleaned up tack. And by that I mean I washed the saddles with water and the stirrups with water and wax. I got about three done before I was told that I could take my lunch break.

After finishing a delicious lunch I was told that I could go on a hack. I had never done a hack before so I didn't know exactly what to expect. But I had a slight idea and that idea turned out to be correct. All a hack was, was doing some trail walking on your horse. Which I have to admit was really fun. I got to do some trotting and some walking all on a horse I had never ridden before. The horse I rode was named Twiggy and I really wish I had gotten some pictures of her because she was really a pretty horse. I went on a hack through a forest and across some fields. Unfortunately the whole time I was on the hack I had to pee... so yeah, that was an unpleasant experience. Especially with the trotting.

After the hack I came back to the stables and cleaned and watered Twiggy. And the returned her to her field.

Being back at the stables is great and I'm looking forward to going back tomorrow. I love helping people out and when an activity is involved that I love then it's a double bonus.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Lazy Day

Now I hate going all short with posts but I feel like today's is just going to be a quickie since I didn't do much or really anything exciting in which I can go into detail about. Which I hope to change since I have more upcoming work at the stables soon. So hopefully that will be fun and I won't be too tired out to write a good post.

My day consisted of getting up, having breakfast, then having a shower, and getting dressed. Today my grandmas friends were going to head back home so around lunch time we all went out to show them the right way to go then said our goodbyes. After that we returned home and had some lunch. Then for the rest of the day I chilled out and did some SAT work practice. Whilst I was finishing it up I decided to take a nap which felt really good. I then watched a bit of the Commonwealth Games,  had dinner and dessert and watched some more of the Commonwealth Games. The gymnastics really amaze me. They make me want to be able to do what those girls can do. All those twists and turns in the air. Amazing. I was in gymnastics when I was younger and I do wish I had continued.

And that was basically my day in a nutshell. Not very exciting day but a day no less. My posts should be longer this week since I will be going back to the stables. So look out for some more posts and definitely more pictures.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Horses and More Nail Polish

Yesterday I went back to the stables after having a nice long hiatus from working and I also went back today. I love going to help out and spend time outside instead of being cooped up in the house all day. And spending time with the horses is also great fun. So I went back to the stables and helped to feed the horses and move the horses around from field to field.

This is the cart that gets pulled along on the tractor machine thingy. Complete with hay and buckets of horse food. Once the horses were taken care of I cleaned up a bit around the stable area and then went home for lunch afterward.
After a nice lunch with my grandparents friends, my grandma, her friend, and I went out to Aberdeen to do some shopping and my grandma had to get her eyes and ears checked. Once we arrived I went straight to Boots then to Superdrug to buy some more Barry M Gelly Nail Polish. It's amazing. I'm defiantly going to have to do a review on it sometime.
After the shopping trip we had a quick cake and tea and then came home.

And then not much really happened apart from I watched some of the Commonwealth Games and chilled out. So I have had a pretty relaxed day. Looking forward to another one tomorrow. :)

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Around The Swan Pond And Through The Woods

I have a confession to make.....

My goal or more like aim was to be able to write a blog posts everyday since I started and yesterday I kind of ruined that streak. Oops.
The main reason was that I didn't do much. I had what I would call a lazy day. And because of that I couldn't really find anything to blog about. Not that, that should be an excuse...

So today I have decided to make up for it by doing a really awesome blog post today. At least my attempt at what I think an awesome blog post would be like.

My day started with me getting up at around seven in the morning. I ate breakfast and then went to go and get dressed and get ready to go and help out at the stables. Today I only worked from nine to eleven which meant I would have more time in the day to do other things as well. Like going on a walk.
When I got back from the stables I showered and then got dressed and ready for my grandparents visitors who would be coming for lunch and staying with us for two days.

My grandma has made a soup for lunch and then about half an hour after everyone was finished I went on a walk with my grandma and her friend. We took a stroll around the swan pond (which is pictured above) and then went on a trail that lead us across a field and through the woods. At first there was a little bit of trouble finding the right path that we needed to take to get out of the forest but eventually after some walking we came across it. And on our way we bumped into two very nice people who were out looking for mushrooms. One of them complimented me on my hair colour, which made me feel really good and reminded me of an idea that I had. But I'll come back to that later.

Once on the path we continued downhill until we came to the local park, where I just had to have a go on the swings. Because who doesn't want to let their inner child out for a bit?

Then after some fun at the park we all came home and chilled out for a bit. I had a nice iced latte, which I'll have to explain more about in my upcoming July favourites blog post. They are really good!

So was my attempt at an awesome-ish post. Hope you enjoyed it!

One. More. Thing.

My grandma took me to the local church today on our walk and I noticed some flowers in big pots so I thought I would try and take a snapshot of some. I love taking pictures of nature so I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to do so. And I got this....

I thought it was really pretty.

I also wanted to talk about the idea that I had, which I had mentioned earlier. At school I kept getting compliments on various days. Whether it was because of my outfit I was wearing, my hair colour, or my shoes people would always say something. So I thought of a way to spread the love. Every time someone would compliment me I would pass the compliment on to someone else. I do compliment people without getting compliments myself though. I just thought that spreading the love after you get complimented would be a joyful and happy thing to do! So that was my idea. :)

Anyway that's all I have for you today! Hope you enjoyed todays post.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Back In Time

Today I went back in time.

Not literarily although that would be pretty awesome. A quick trip in the TARDIS backwards or forwards in time? Yes please.

So the reason that I supposedly "went back in time" today was because my grandma took me back to the house that I spent the first three years of my life in. And it was actually pretty amazing. I have no memories of ever living there, so to see the house that I lived in quite a while ago, was strange. It was like I was seeing it for the very first time. Even though I had lived there before. Is that weird?
I also got to see around the town where my old house was situated which was also really cool. And as my grandma was driving around, she told me little facts about what I used to do and where I used to go to have fun, when I lived there before.

This was my old house. I was told the fence at the side was put in place by my parents to stop me from escaping or wandering into the road. Oh the memories....

After a little trip down memory lane with both of my grandparents we went to go and grab a bite to eat. Stopping at the Garden Centre we placed in our orders of food at the café. I ordered a chicken club sandwich and some carrot soup. Which I would would have taken a picture of to show you just how delicious it looked and was, had I not started eating it and then remembered to have taken the picture. Smart Aimee, smart.

We had a nice look around the garden centre. Then just before we left I spotted something that I knew I would juts have to take home with me.

No name the guinea pig.

I haven't found a good name for him yet. I thought of names like Charlie, Percy, and Pip but I'm not sure.... He started out as a girl and I thought that Pippa would be a good name but now he's a guy I don't feel as if that would be very appropriate.
Anyway the best thing about no name is that he doesn't require any water or food. I could try to give him some but I don't know if he'd take it. He's like a super guinea pig.

So that has pretty much been my day. If you have any cool or unique names for my new friend let me know. :)

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Shopping Trip In Aberdeen

In August I will be attending a family members wedding so my grandma decided to take me out shopping to find a nice dress. We left around ten in the morning and drove to the local park and ride which we ended up having to wait at because the next bus we needed was going to take twenty minutes. And since the weather here has been hot and sunny it wasn't very fun.
The bus finally did arrive though and we boarded and were on our way to the shopping centre. Now my nana was convinced that I needed more than one dress because of all the different events I would be attending such as the hen do, a lunch party, and the wedding. So in total I would need three different dresses.

The first store we visited was Primark. I had shopped here before in Leeds so I thought I would check it out again and I ended up getting a pretty blue and white dress that has  a flower pattern. Then we left the store to go to Marks & Spenser's and grab some lunch which ended up consisting of a chicken salad sandwich, blueberry muffin, and a small bottle of still lemonade. Yum!

After lunch we headed to Monsoon where I found my next dress. A beautiful green lacy dress. I think I will wear that one to the wedding. We went to Boots next and I checked out a brand of nail varnish that I have been wanting to check out for a while called Barry M. I was amazed by all the pretty colours that they had in their selection. I went for a colour called Sugar Apple and a nail top and bottom base so my nails don't get chipped.

My grandma then had her eye appointment so I went with her to that and waited outside in the lobby area. Which I almost fell asleep at. Oops. Shopping is pretty tiring though, to be honest. After her check-up I got to help her pick out some lenses and I learnt that my grandma looks good in and really likes the colour purple. She ended up buying two pairs of purple glasses. One was sunglasses and the other were regular everyday glasses.

The last thing we did before we came home was do a quick shop in and out at Sainsbury where we picked up some more mars milk, because it is delicious,  and a few banana and strawberry smoothies, because I am trying to be healthy. Really I am.

Before coming back to my granddad, who was at home, we stopped at a different Marks and Spenser's and got some groceries.
For dinner my grandma made fish and chips with a side salad and we had a strawberry flan for dessert which was also homemade and very delicious.

So overall I'd say that I have had a very productive and eventful day. I always love to go shopping although it really tires me out.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Sunny In Scotland?!

Ever since I arrived in the UK for my summer holiday it has been nothing but hot and sunny. The temperatures have been high and I've gotten sunburnt more times than I can count. Don't get me wrong though the sun is quite nice, it's just very hot. And working at the stables in the very humid weather is definitely a challenge. I'm just happy that there's been a nice breeze around when I've been working outside.

I've been told that normally Scotland hasn't had that nice of weather as it does now. Which makes me happy to know that I've come during a summer that hasn't been all rainy and full of thunder. Some people have also thanked me for bringing the weather with me from Seattle. It's normally not that hot there either, in fact the weather there is quite similar to the weather where I am now. Usually very rainy and cold.

So because today was such a nice day I went on a little stroll with my grandma. A whilst I was walking I took a few pictures...

I thought that the flowers were quite nice, and since I haven't had the chance to take any proper pictures of flowers yet I thought I'd practice with the daisies. And I have tried my best to attempt catching a picture of a butterfly but this one was in the shade and any sudden movement from me would have caused it to fly away.

I also decided to celebrate the sunshine...

Thankfully I didn't get a sunburn because I had remembered to wear sunscreen! You wouldn't believe how forgetful I am when it comes to those sort of things. Honestly I am terrible.

So now that you know what the weather is like where I am what's the weather like where you are? Hot, cold, rainy, sunny, maybe even snowing??

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

A Day In The Life Of A Horse Volunteer

This morning I woke up with the worst pain in my legs and thighs and it didn't take me long to realize where the pain came from. Yesterdays horseback riding lesson. Now I haven't ridden a horse for who knows who long, around 3 years maybe? And because of my lack of riding I had forgotten how much it can hurt when you wake up the next morning feeling like you've been pulled in all sorts of directions at once. Ouch. So getting up this morning was defiantly a challenge for me but when I finally had managed to gracefully pull myself out of bed I set off to the shower to get fresh and ready for the day.

When I arrived at the stables, which was shortly after I had showered and eaten my breakfast, I already sort of knew the plan for the day. Unfortunately there wouldn't be much riding for me but I was ok with that considering that my legs were killing me. Instead I would be helping groom and saddle the horses for the fun day at the Horse Protection/Rescue Centre up the road. To say "Thank you" to the staff that worked there who let the place I volunteer at use their riding arena there had been a fun day planned for them. Because the people work at a Rescue Centre are more focused on getting the horses up to 100% health, they usually don't get to ride the horses. So this was a nice treat for them.
I spent most of the morning brushing and saddling up the horses that would be used. Then I rode a horse named Vince up to the Rescue Centre. The rest of my day consisted of helping out with moving the horses and having a lovely lunch that was provided by the centre.

After riding Vince back to the stables after a long and tiring day. I helped clean some of the horses and then came home.  Then got ready to go to a zumba dance class to get some exercise. Which surprisingly helped with my soreness from earlier in the day.

Overall I feel as if I've had an accomplished day. Defiantly worn me out though. I'll be helping out a bit more soon and I'll try to get some pictures or facts about horses or something. I wouldn't want to bore you too much with the tales of my day.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Back To The Stables

Ever since I was around ten years old I have loved riding horses and when my grandma got me the opportunity to work with them over this current summer I just couldn't say no. Today was my first day at the stables. When I arrived I was immediately put to work. Feeding, cleaning, and washing the horses. Which was fun but also very tiring. During the walking around to fetch the horses I was also introduced to them. Some of the horses were very pretty and very sweet. After all the cleaning and moving of the horses I had a break for lunch.
When I was younger I took lessons at another farm that was quite close to my school and my house. On some days after school I would walk down and ride some of the horses. Those lessons were very helpful for today. I had to remember how to saddle, clean, and fetch horses. And I am glad that I had past experience with those things otherwise I would have been in some serious trouble.
So after lunch I got some lessons. I had to saddle up a few different horses and then I also saddled up  the horse that I was riding, whose name was Mojo. She was a very sweet horse. I did some trotting and walking on Mojo and I had a really fun time getting into the rhythm of riding again. Mojo was a sweet horse and was very cooperative with me. However those darn horseflies were killing me. I didn't realize how annoying horseflies were until today.
So all in all I had a pretty fun day. Can't wait to be going back and doing some more helping out tomorrow.

I love being around horses as I feel like you can really create a bond between you and them. And the riding is also fun, providing you don't get thrown off. It's happened to me a few times when I was riding before and thankfully it wasn't too bad.

That's my little blog bit for today. I will defiantly updating some more tomorrow. As there is a lot that is going to be happening. So a very busy day awaits.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Summer Reading

Today I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to find a topic to write about. As I haven't gone anywhere or doing anything for the entirety of the day, I know how bad that sounds but I tend to think of it more as having a lazy day, I became a bit puzzled as to what I could possibly write about. And then as I was sitting at the breakfast table eating a bowl of chocolaty coco pops it hit me.

My summer reading list.

I am the type of girl who can spend hours getting lost in a good book. Whether it's a romance, adventure, horror, drama, or mystery book I'm interested in what that book has to offer. Because of this I have read quite a long list of books I have enjoyed and will treasure and during the summer my list has it's biggest impact of growth from even more books. I usually spend rainy days, lazy days, beach days, sunny days, basically mostly any day reading. There's nothing like getting lost in the pages of a brand new book, especially when the book you read has characters or a character that you can relate to. Having that feature always seems to make the book more enjoyable and captivating.

So today I'm going to share with you my summer reading list of 2014. Here are just a few of the books that I have enjoyed  so far...

(From top to bottom)

Doctor Who: The Nightmare of Black Island. (By Mike Tucker): On a lonely stretch of Welsh coastline a fisherman is killed by a hideous creature from beneath the waves. When the Doctor and Rose arrive, they discover a village where the children are plagued by nightmares, and the nights are ruled by monsters. The villagers suspect that ailing industrialist Nathanial Morton is to blame, but the Doctor has suspicions of his own.
As the children's nightmares get worse, the Doctor and Rose discover an alien plot to resurrect an ancient evil...

Why?: I chose this book because I loved it. It had the right amount of mystery and PG thriller to make this novel a very exciting read. Also I love Doctor Who and getting the chance to add a Doctor Who novel to my summer reading list was something I couldn't miss out on. I want to add as well that I really love to read any of the Doctor Who books because for a diehard fan like me it keeps the story of the Doctor going and the more adventures I can get, the better!

A Clash of Kings. (By George R.R. Martin): A comet the colour of  blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six fractions struggle for control of a divided eland and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war. It is a tale which brother plots against brither and the dead rise to walk in the night. Here a princess masquerades an orphan boy; a knight of the mind prepares a poison for a treacherous sorceress; and wild men descend form the Mountains of the Moon to ravage the countryside. Against a backdrop of incest and fratricide, alchemy, and murder, victory may go to the men and woman possessed of the coldest steel ... and the coldest heart. For when kings clash, the whole land trembles.#

Why?: This book made it to my list because about a month or two ago a friend of mine started reading the first book in the Game of Thrones series and talked to me about how good it was. After telling me it was probably not a book that I would enjoy I decided to give it a chance. And I proved him wrong! I have loved this book so far and have yet to finish it. George R.R. Martin is a very detailed writer which means that concentrating on the book when reading it would be vital, also you may want to be in a quiet area when reading. The details that this book provided are ones that you would want to pay very close attention to. At least that's what I got out of it anyway. I love this book and I would definitely recommended it to any person who's big on history, fantasy, or adventure books.

The Fault in Our Stars. (By John Green): Despite the tumour- shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years. Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Why?: Now if you don't already know about the Fault in Our Stars where exactly have you been? This book has made it into my summer book list for obvious reasons. It's a sweet and touching love story that revolves around two people who understand how precious each other are and how time is not something that can be bought back or even saved. John Green does an excellent job of providing each of the characters with their own special and unique personalities. Which then helps support the plot and rest of the story through the struggles, love, and pain. I would defiantly recommended this book to anyone who has in interest in romance, character development, or just looking for a good book to read. I promise you won't be disappointed.

An Abundance of Katherine's. (By John Green): 19 Katherine's and counting... When it comes to relationships, Colin Singleton's type is girls named Katherine. And when it comes to girls named Katherine, Colin is always getting dumped. Nineteen times, to be exact.
On a road trip miles from home, this anagram-happy, washed up child prodigy has ten thousand dollars in his pocket, a blood-thirsty feral hog on his trail-but no Katherine's. Colin is on a mission to prove The Theorem of Underlying Katherine Predictability, which he hopes will predict the future of any relationship, avenge Dumpees everywhere, and finally win him the girl.

Why?: I want to just say that I haven't yet read this book but I really liked the sound of it when I picked it up and read it's blurb on the back. Also because of John Green's book The Fault in Our Stars, and of how much I liked it. I thought I would give this book a shot. I'm hoping if you also have read The Fault in Our Stars, and liked it, you will too!

Fangirl (By Rainbow Rowell):  Cath and Wren are identical twins and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university and Wren's decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair any more- she wants to dance, meet boys, got to parties, and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She would rather bury herself in the fanfiction she writes where there's romance far more intense than anything she's experienced in real life.
Now Cath has to decide whether she's ready to open her heart to new people and new experiences, and she's realizing that there's more to learn about love than she ever thought possible...

Why?: I'm going to ne honest with this book, not that wasn't with the others, but when I first saw this book I was drawn into it by the cover. Now I know that you shouldn't ever judge a book by it's cover but when the cover of the book has a girl typing on her laptop whilst sitting upon the word fangirl and having a cute boy stare up at her with admiration I couldn't help but feel like this book's cover sums up my entire life, everything apart from the cute boy of course. I don't know where he is yet.
Anyway, when I flipped the book over and read the blurb on the back I had one of those moments that readers sometimes get when they feel like they can relate to a certain character. The characters name is Cath and similarly to me she's a nerdy girl who likes to stay away from parties and instead write fanfiction creating a world that's all of her own, while her sister, who oddly enough is also quite similar to my sister, goes out to parties, meets guys, and just lets loose. The story revolves around Cath's time at university and the struggles, friends she makes and events that she has to go through while she is there. I would recommend this to someone who is just starting university as maybe you'd be able to relate to Cath and some of the things she goes through. Also if you're a complete geek or nerd like I am you may also like this book as well.

Well those were some of my recommendations for now. I honestly wasn't exacting for this post to have been so long even though I could put a ton more on here but I wouldn't want to make todays blog post any longer than it needed be. I hope you enjoyed reading about some of those books. They are all amazing each in their own way and definitely deserve to be read by all the many readers that are out there.

Until next time,

Aimee :)

British Food VS American Food

This morning I went out on a shopping trip my with grandma and I as was walking around the many colourful food isles in the supermarkets I decided that todays blog post would be about another interesting difference I have noticed while I've been here and of course about something that I enjoy writing about.

The food.

One thing that I have found to have been the biggest difference between America and Britain has been the food. Now I'm not saying that one is necessarily worse than the other they are both just very different. In Britain you get a lot of fish and chip shops which you can also find in America but I feel as if they are more popular over here. Also I have found that going out for fish and chips is quite popular with many of the tourists that visit the UK. Since I'm kind of a tourist I can understand why, fish and chips are indeed delicious and I do find that they are quite a bit tastier when they are made in Britain. And in America it seems to be all the burgers, fried chicken, and the pizza. Not that that's a bad thing as I quite enjoy those very unhealthy foods.

As well as in America, Britain also has fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, and KFC. Also in Britain they are a lot of different supermarkets which sell a variety of different foods than American one's do. Some of these supermarkets would include Marks and Spenser's, Tesco's, ASDA, Morrison's, and Sainsbury's. And in America there are places like Safeway, Albertsons, Walmart, and Rite Aid.

(Photo credit goes to BBC America )
Now I honestly would love to buy almost everything from British supermarkets and this is mainly down to the fact that there are some pretty wacky and quirky foods here. Take what I found today for example. I was out shopping when my grandma and I came across this....

I have never seen this or anything like this before and I knew that as soon as I had spotted it in the refrigerated milk section I just had to try it out. I mean, come on, a milk that has been made from a chocolate bar that has to be good, right? And boy was I correct. I don't believe you can get anything like this back in the US but it would be amazing if you could. Now that this has been made I am crossing my fingers that KitKat Milk will be next. What a dream come true that would be.

Then after the very eventful shopping trip, that made us look like we were storing up for the next zombie apocalypse,  I came home with my grandma and we had lunch with my granddad and then we all went out to a rescue horse place and that's where another foodie difference came up. We went to the café area that was there at the rescue centre and I had ordered a orange hot chocolate. This is what it came out looking like...

Now I know this difference to be true because it's happened here to me more than once. The difference I am talking about is the fact that every time you order a hot chocolate here in the UK they will serve it with marshmallows where they will either be in the hot chocolate (as shown) or on the saucer by the cup ready for you to place them in at your leisure. In the US you usually have to ask for marshmallows if you would like them and they sometimes cost extra. So big bonus points for the UK when it comes to hot chocolate.

So those are just some foodie differences that I have noticed between the Us and the UK. If you have any you would liked to share from around the world then comment down below. I'd love to hear about all the different one's.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)

Keeping Healthy During The Summertime.

So as you all may know it's the summer and one thing I struggle with the most during the summer is exercise. I tend to become lazier than usual, not wanting to get out of my bed early in the morning to go and do an early morning run has been my latest battle. I find it extremely hard to want to leave my warm, soft, plush sheets. Just thinking about makes me want to climb into bed and take a long nap. Hmmm.

Anyway, I love running whether it's outside or on the treadmill on a rainy day I just love to do it. However recently I have not done so much of it. And that's perfectly fine but now I have decided to get back into it. I love to push myself when trying new things, to break bad habits or to make good new ones.

Of course some of you reading this may not be runners or even interested in running but may be interested in some tips for keeping fit over the summer, so I have decided to help you out and give you a few of my tips that I plan to starting using. I have done a bit of research and here are a few things I have come up with....

*I am in no way a professional on health or fitness or a professional trainer in anyway shape or form and I don't claim to be one. The tips that I list below are solely from my opinions, research, and experiences*

1. If you don't do this already try including fruit somewhere in your breakfasts. Whether it's on top of your cereal, yogurt, toast, or in a breakfast smoothie.
2. If you like to watch television then during the ads try doing some crunches, push-ups, jumping jacks, lunges, ect....
3. Drink water! Drinking water is very healthy for your skin and for your overall being. Also if you're ever feeling hungry try drinking some water before you go to get a snack or anything like that. I have found this to be very helpful. Sometimes I feel hungry but all I've needed is a good drink of water to fill me up.
4. Sign up for sports camps. I have found that when you join any kind of club or camp over the summer it's a good outlet for making new friends as well as keeping in shape and having a good time.
5.  Try going on walks. Getting outside when the weather is nice can be very relaxing. And walking is a good alternative to running.

Speaking of walking I did go on one today. I have been on several while I've been here but on this particular walk I managed to take my camera with me and I took a few shots. Walking along the countryside is very different than walking in a big city or along a road by the beach.
The sounds of the birds singing, the nice flowing breeze and the warm heat from the sun are all things that make walking in the countryside very enjoyable. It's very peaceful.

These were taken once I had reached the top of the hill I had to climb up. It took a lot of effort to get up there but it was definitely worth it for these pictures.

When the group I went with had stopped for lunch I managed to catch a few shots of these beautiful flowers.

So those a few tips that I have come up with. I'm hoping they were useful. Let me know.
Also what tips do you have for keeping healthy? I'd love to hear from you.

Until next time,

Aimee. :)
